Securing funding for a heritage destination
The Greater Grassmarket is a UNESCO world heritage site with a wealth of history and attractions to keep locals and tourists alike entertained. Home to Edinburgh's 'Independent Shopping Quarter' (with 90% of shops in the area being independent), the Greater Grassmarket retains taverns and shops which have existed since the 1500s and its weekly artisan market is a must-visit on Saturdays. A walk around the Grassmarket's Medieval streets is to take a step back in time...
A client of ours for over eight years now, we have supported the Greater Grassmarket through various projects including re-active and pro-active media relations support, and contingency planning for local and international press and PR relating to events and activities in the area. Previously, Niche Works helped secure funding through Visit Scotland's Growth Fund, which allowed for a much greater spread of media and marketing activity, and the monitored outcomes were very pleasing. This funding supported the development of the area's first consumer brand and website.
We work closely with the Greater Grassmarket BID team as well as with other third parties to ensure effective communication and maximum profile raising opportunities.
